FAQ - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
There is a whole lot going on at the Super Billiards Expo!
With so much going on, we realize that you may have some questions or concerns. Below you will find some of the frequently asked questions that we receive. You are always welcome to contact us directly for any questions, and we do our best to respond to everyone in a timely manner, but you may save some time by finding answers to your questions here.
NOTE: More questions and answers will be added here as they come up.
I signed up online but do not see my name on the list - when are they updated?
Thanks for playing! Our Registered Players lists are updated weekly, usually on the weekends. This is a manual process, so your name will not appear instantly on the list after signing up. Please wait until the following Monday to check for your name. The reports have a date in the upper right corner of each page, so be sure the date shown is after the date you signed up before becoming concerned.
The event I want to play in is sold out, can I still get in?
We allow people to withdraw up until the charts are posted. At that point, we allow players to line up (first come) at the desk 2 hours prior to the players meeting to see if there are any available spots. We do not allow selling of player spots... once the chart is posted, if the player isn't able to play, they will forfeit. Anyone found to be playing in another persons place will be ejected from the tournament.
I am not considered a Pro, but can I play in both the Pro Event and the Open Amateur Event?
UPDATED APRIL 11, 2015:
(the rule was changed a few years ago, we were just alerted that the answer published here was incorrect - sorry for any confusion)
The pro event is open to anyone and everyone that wants to pay the entry fee and play. You are allowed to enter the Pro Event if you choose. However, if you choose to play in more than one event, you run the risk of matches being scheduled at the same time. If this happens, you will have to choose one to play and one to forfeit.
The exception is that a "known pro" or players ranked at a certain level of play cannot play in the amateur division. We encourage and allow any amateur to try their skills in the Pro division. We do have an Excluded Player List that we add to when needed.
Since there is no governing body for the men comparable to the WPBA, we use our own guidelines based on reputation and performance. It is a difficult task, but we try to do our best.
Please refer to our Amateur Player Guidelines for more details.
Is there a dress code?
No, there is not a specific dress code. The only rule is that nothing worn can be offensive or vulgar. Although it has never been a problem, any clothing that was considered "too revealing" may raise some complaints as well. Basically, if you would wear it to the mall or a restaurant, it should be fine.
Are the Diamond tables available for sale after the Expo?
Yes, the tables being used at the Super Billiards Expo are available for sale, from Diamond tables. To inquire about the tables, you can call Diamond at (812) 288-7665 and ask for the Sales Dept. You can visit their website here: http://www.diamondbilliards.com/
Just tell them you are curious about the tables being used at the Super Billiards Expo.
Are children allowed in the Expo? And do they need a ticket?
Children are definitely welcome at the Super Billiards Expo - in fact, we even have two Juniors Divisions that are completely free for them to compete in! Children 13 and younger do not require a ticket to enter the Expo. All children should be accompanied by an adult, for everyone's safety.
Are cameras allowed?
You are welcome to bring a camera and take pictures. We ask that no flashes be used in the Pro Arena, or in any playing area really. If the use of flashes becomes a problem, then we will have no other choice but to begin announcing that no cameras are allowed in the Pro Arena. This could happen mid-show if needed, as our intent is to keep the arena free of flash photography and if a few people are not respecting that, then our rules need to be adjusted on the go - for the sake of the players and other fans.
Can I park, and stay in, my RV at the venue?
Guests may park their RV in the lot at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center. RV hookups are available on a first come first served basis. The cost is $110+tax ($116.60) for the duration of the event. Electricity can be ordered online here.
Pre-ordering electricity allows the hook-up to be immediate when you arrive. However, pre-purchasing electric does not guarantee a hook up; but the facility has never run out of spots. In the event electric is pre-ordered and there are no available spots when you arrive on site, you will be refunded in full.
The facility does not provide water or sewage services.
For further assistance or questions, please contact the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at (484)754-3979.
